Admittedly, it was quite a surreal experience the first time I saw it there, under both my name and “Barnes & Noble” in an online search. I think that was when it finally hit me: it’s out there. Which means I am out there. Which means my stories are out there… Which means I am out there, etc. Free to be judged and criticized.
It’s a new (but certainly not uncommon) writing fear I need to deal with, now. But a part of it is remembering that for every judgement or criticism, there is someone out there who is grateful for my story and happy that I wrote it. At least, that is what I like to believe.
