This one is a bit of a group effort. When you find yourself at a point where you’re stuck, and all your other tactics for facing writer’s block have failed, bring someone you trust into the mix. If you are willing, have them read the last few lines you have written (and refrain from providing context), then let them improvise a line or two from their own imagination from there.
This trick is not meant to have someone else do the writing for you, but rather (hopefully) put you in a position that kick-starts your own thought process. Maybe something they write strikes a chord that gives you inspiration for what happens next; maybe a specific word they use is exactly the one you were reaching for and could not manage to grab on to.
Or, maybe, it will just give you a silly moment with someone you love. Either way, it’s a win-win.
